The Haryana Livestock Development Board has been constituted by Government of Haryana vide Notification 180 - AH - I - 200 / 558 Dated 12th / 13th January, 2000 with the following objectives:-

OBJECTIVES: -

1. To improve the genetic stock of the animals in the State of Haryana and to promote breeding activities with special emphasis to preserve and multiply the Murrah germplasm.
2. To promote, organize and nurture institutions to generate quality breeding inputs and for delivery of breeding inputs and for delivery of breeding services at farmer’s doorstep on progressively self generating and economically viable basis.
3. To modernize and upgrade the existing training facilities and to obtain new technologies and upgrade skills on all aspects of livestock production, products processing, storage, transport, merchandising and research work.

ACTIVITIES OF THE BOARD:-

1. Mobile AI Facilities to breeders.
2. Production of quality semen.
3. Identification of top quality animals.
4. Insurance cover to identified animals.
5. Purchase of male calves born to high yielders.
6. Supply of young bulls to panchayats.
7. Calf Rallies.
8. Women Awareness Camps.
9. Health Care & Infertility Management Camps.

Following fixed assets of Animal Husbandry Department have been transferred to Haryana Livestock Development Board

1. Government Livestock Farm, Sector - 1, Hisar along with all assets like land, livestock, farm machinery and Mechanical Workshop.
2. Government Livestock Farm, Sector II, Hisar including land, livestock, farm machinery and Embryo Transfer Technology Laboratory.
3. Government Livestock Farm, Sector III (State Cattle Breeding Project and Seed Farm) including Semen Bank, land, livestock, farm machinery and other equipments.
4. Model Exotic Animal Farm, Bhiwani with all assets (land, livestock, machinery etc.)
5. 13Semen Banks (Jagadhri (2), Karnal, Pehowa, Jind, Lakria, Gurgaon(2), Narnaul, Bhiwani, Hisar (2) & Bhodia Khera) and Liquid Nitrogen Plants.
